My MS website

Homepage

This is the end result of the homepage. I'm really pleased with how this came out and that it is really for the users. The icons that I came up are all relevant to the sections and the colours are relative to the branding. The text that I used aren't the same as what they use, but it was the closet that I got to matching. I found changing the font the trickiest at first, I found that I had to copy and paste text into Joomla and then just change what I wanted to say. With the layout of the sight I wasn't sure if it would initially work, originally it was just one column but after experimenting I found that having two was the more effective, however I did try with three columns but thought that it looked like it was to squashed. At the bottom of the page there is the disclaimer which I got from the MS Society.

 What is MS?

This is the end result of the What is MS? page. I'm pleased with how this came out, however there is much improvement that could be made. The look is very plain, but I think the orange and black on the page stand out well. The text that I used aren't the same as what they use, but it was the closet that I got to matching. I found changing the font the trickiest at first, I found that I had to copy and paste text into Joomla and then just change what I wanted to say. With the layout of the sight I experimented with different layouts. Like before I tried it with just one column, but found that it looked good with the second column. In this page there are sections with in it, so I wanted this to be a type of homepage. Underneath the content I wanted to have links to other pages in the section. I found this a challenge at first because I had no idea how I was going to go about it, but when I was looking through I tried out a way of link which was successful and applied to all of the pages that needed links. In terms of the layout of the links I created two new articles which positioned them in each column. With the types of MS page I found it helpful with there being three types of MS that I could set it out in three columns and it not look so squashed. I had to change the settings so that I had one leading article which is the top one which meant the three could go next to each other. The one bit I did struggle with is the layout of the links at the bottom of the page, ideally I would have liked it to look like the previous page.

Your Guide

This is the end result of the Your Guide page. The layout of this page could do with some work as at the moment it looks quite boring. The look is very plain, but I think the orange and black on the page stand out well. Carers

To get the links at the bottom of the page to be in a line like it is, in the article I created a table with three boxes and put the links in each box.

News

To help me to see what it would look like, I took a screen shot from the MS Society's website of their Facebook and Twitter feeds and put them in an article.

Important Bits

This is the end result of the Important Bits page. With the icon for this section I decided to go with jigsaw pieces which symbolises the join to make one important thing. I'm pleased with how this came out, however there is much improvement that could be made. The look is very plain, but I think the orange and black on the page stand out well. The text that I used aren't the same as what they use, but it was the closet that I got to matching. In this page there are sections with in it, so I wanted this to be a type of homepage. I spent some playing around with the layouts and working out what looked the best. Ideally I would have liked the links to each page, however when I come back to it, I will sort this out.

Fundraising

This is the end result of the Fundraising page. I'm pleased with how this came out, however there is much improvement that could be made. The look is very plain, but I think the orange and black on the page stand out well. The text that I used aren't the same as what they use, but it was the closet that I got to matching. With the cake break section I used pink as the colour of the icon and headings because it is the colour that they use for this event.

About Us

This is the end result of the About Us page. I'm pleased with how this came out, however there is much improvement that could be made. I think I could add more content into the page. The look is very plain, but I think the orange and black on the page stand out well. The text that I used aren't the same as what they use, but it was the closet that I got to matching. I found changing the font the trickiest at first, I found that I had to copy and paste text into Joomla and then just change what I wanted to say.

I'm planning on coming back and making improvements to the site. I am going to add more imagery which is something that it is lacking, I would also like to add more icons as well.
